I was just about to buy a candy bar out of the machine here at work, when I saw that one of the coins from my pocket was different - had some bird on it. I figured it must be more of that junk Canadian money that always filters into the exchange somewhere and ends up in a jar at home because the machines won't accept them. On closer inspection, however, the bird is a seagull. What the hell is a seagull doing on a Canadian dime? Flipped it over and there's a frickin' fish and a pelican on either side of a shield, and a banner that says "Pride And Industry" - a 1995 minting from Barbados of all places. I've never been to the Carribbean, but it never dawned on me that the islands would have their own coins, much less that any of it would end up in hunkeytown, PA. Even more astonishing is the fact that the place that the change came from was the U.S. Post Office, where you'd expect they at the very least should be able to distinguish domestic coins from those minted abroad. My life is so nondescript that this must be the most exciting thing that's happened in...oh...3 weeks. By the way, any coin collectors want this thing? You can't have my kannuck coins, we plan to someday drive up north and spend them legitimately...on beer, but I highly doubt we'll be heading to Barbados in the near future.

thats weird. up here in toronto i get coins from all over. just got a 25 cent coin from cuba yesterday and barbados, and lotta island coins pop up alot. [img]confused.gif[/img] sometimes even pounds from england.
and as always, the damn american ones trying to invade us! [img]eek.gif[/img]
We get some euros arround here. In fact, our RD$5.00 pesos is almost identical to 1 Euro. Maybe we should have a new currency in this side of the hemisphere. I know !!!

and I've gotten canadian coins and a euro from the post office before.
